Quick Introduction

I am a practical developer. Rapid functional prototyping with constant refinement and testing are my priorities. My design process will always begin with fundamental research to understand the problem so an appropriate solution can be given.

Developer

Critical Mass

My experience at this digital agency has provided many opportunities including spearheading a prototype for a voice app using Google Home and Google Voice Assistant. I was also responsible for leading the demo to the clients. During my time at the agency, I was also fortunate enough to lead a small group of developers to build a hybrid mobile app using React Native for Android. As I led the development team, we worked with other disciplines to roll out our functional prototype in 2 weeks, using GIT for version management. Lastly, my ongoing role was to maintain and update a long-term project using a combination of HTML5, CSS3, CSS pre-processors, GULP as the task runner, Groovy, Java, .JSP, and AEM as the CMS. I streamlined my workflow using JIRA for task management and Bitbucket.

Technology User Engagement Research

Sheridan Centre for Elder Research

At the Research Centre, I extensively researched a target user demographic to create comprehensive user personas. As I learned how to dig deep within just short of 100 scholarly articles and research studies, I was able to extract solid user insights. With the insights, I designed, planned, and executed my own grassroots research study to learn about the target user personas firsthand. I conducted several dozens of user interviews independently where I strengthened my skills in communication, interview techniques, data gathering and analyizing the data. Alongside industry leaders and key stakeholders, I designed effective customer engagement strategies based on the research results. Lastly, I prepared recommendation reports and shared the findings with all parties involved.

Web Developer and Designer

DOTCA Marketing

Acting on my entrepreneurial mindset, I started my own digital agency business. My main responsibilities included sales, client acquisition, account management, web design, graphic design, mockups and prototyping, developing new websites, social media marketing, content marketing, marketing science analytics, and SEO optimization. My experience with running a business taught me so much and I was able to successfully create and execute a completely renewed brand for a local small business. I also performed research and analysis on market trends to grow audience in specific markets. Learning about the voice of a brand, I engaged with customers to generate leads and increase brand loyalty. I thoroughly analyzed consumer behaviour within niche markets to create relevant content around the client's brand. Lastly, I collaborated with digital influencers to increase brand awareness and largely grow customer base while continuing to manage all relevant social platforms and created a strong online presence.

Web Designer

Archdiocese of Toronto

Under a short-term contract I was given an opportunity to completely redesign the company's website using Wordpress CMS. Also, I was able to design and create promotional event ads in both print and digital mediums. Lastly, I designed various media projects and drafted project proposals that successfully led to the achievement of key business goals.

Interactive Media

Sheridan College Institute of Technology

After satisfying my personal educational endeavours, I craved to get back to my passion for technology. In a 1 year post-graduate program, I was able to learn fundamental UX principles and applied them to multiple interactive projects. Some of my experiences include building a full stack social network, a 2D interactive storytelling app for children, an educational cooking assistant app for youth, a general data visualization tool, a 3D interactive data visualization using REST APIs, and a consumer product reviewer application using REACT.

Bachelor of Philosopy

St. Philip's Seminary

For personal reasons I decided to pursue a lifelong passion and jumped head first into philosophy. During this 2 year intensive philosophy program, I immersed myself in the main eras of Philosophical development, including the Ancient Philosophical thinkers to the Modern Philosophical thinkers. Although this discipline was completely different from my current career in development, the opportunity dramatically improved my soft skills and thought processes that greatly benefit my career today. I strengthened my critical thinking abilities including skills in logic, communication, abstract thinking, problem solving, empathy, and human behaviour.

Computer Programmer

Sheridan College Institute of Technology

Beginning my career development in programming, I invested 2 years in developing technical skillsets in object oriented programming using Java, C#, .NET, and PHP. I was also introduced to front end web development with HTML and CSS fundamentals. I learned basic fundamentals in software, networking, security, and project manangement. Also, I developed skills in database management using SQL.

Art Fundamentals

Sheridan College Institute of Technology

I began my post-secondary journey with aspirations to launch a career in computer animation. Realizing I was not as passionate as I thought, I decided to switch careers into programming. Fortunately, I was able to gain creative skills that I continue to use today as a UX/UI Designer. I spent 1 year improving my creative abilities in painting, life sketching, 2D design, 3D design, and sculpting.
